Memorial to memory of LEVI H. WALKER, born Feb. 5, 1823; died March 5, 1876 by Farmville Lodge (organization not cited).
In the May 12, 1876 issue appeared an interesting comment::
CHARLY HINSON about two miles from this place /Lexington/ has a chair in his
possession which is in sitting order that was given to his grandfather by his
great-grandfather when he married and his grandfather being a soldier in the
Revolutionary War dates the chair back to an old age.
The LEXINGTON REPUBLICAN, a newspaper established by FELIX CREASY in 1893 was in operation for decades; few issues survive, some perhaps destroyed in the tornado of March 1956 that destroyed Creasy's former residence. He published lengthy obituaries of persons, examples of which appear in the extant issues.
