(1) "Henderson County Records"
Available to researchers in the Tennessee Room of the Henderson County Library is a thick photocopy compilation of receipts/vouchers chiefly of guardians' accounts; the first three deal with cases in 1858; the next begin in 1869 and run into 1895. This is an extremely valuable record in which relationships are defined and/or implied. The whereabouts of the original receipts/vouchers are unknown but these are fine "substitutes" as these are photocopies of the actual records not simply transcriptions.
(2) ""History: Henderson County Schools, 1940-1941"
This 43 page compilation was prepared by the teachers and students in the various communities of the county, under the supervision of Louise Oakley, County Educational Supervisor at the time. It contains historical sketches about the schools, the communities they served and mentions of relevant individuals. It is valuable in part because the histories were compiled in large part from interviews with older residents of the county, who knew from personal experience and/or accounts from old pioneer folk some of the old stories about these communities. The copy seen by the present writer is located in the Henderson County vertical/informational file at the Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville, Tennessee. There is also a copy in the Henderson County Library.
