Whenever a person died without sufficient assets to cover the debts he left, his estate was "suggested" to the county court as being insolvent, which body would then determine that the debts of the estate be paid pro-rata — at a fraction of the actual debt, allowing for what the estate could pay.

These accounts simply list the estate, the lists of debts/claims due, when these were filed with the estate and whatever disposition was taken towards paying them. HERE THE ESTATE IS GIVEN AND THE DATE OF THE FIRST CLAIM FILED AGAINST THE ESTATE, USEFUL INFORMATION AS MOST OF THE COUNTY PROBATE AND ALL COUNTY MINUTES PREVIOUS TO 1893 WERE DESTROYED IN 1895, TOWARDS DETERMING "ABOUT" DATES OF DEATH.
