OBITUARY
The Rev. Willie W. Worthams, son of the late Charlie and Annie Daisy Worthams was born May 8, 1919 in Stanton, Tennessee.
He received his public school education in Haywood and Hardeman Counties. He also attended Phillips School of Theology and Lane College.
He was a veteran of World War II and worked as an insurance agent for 27 years.
During his ministry he served in the West Tennessee Conference, 13th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. His pastoral charges included, Hollow Rock Circuit, Bruceton, Tennessee; St. Paul A.M.E., Fulton, Kentucky; Decaturville Circuit, Decaturville, Tennessee and Hickman Chapel, Jackson, Tennessee. At the time of his death, he was mininister of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Memphis, Tennessee.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Aline Hayes Worthams, two sons, Willie Floyd of Memphis and Donald D., U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Two daughters, Maxine Worthams, Peoria, Illinois, Gwendolyn Worthams, Rock-ford, Illinois. Four sisters, Mrs. Jennie Sue Cunningham, Mrs. Darthula Boyd, of Mason, Tennessee, Mrs. Mattie Johnson, and Mrs. Rachel Price, of Jackson. Four brothers, a twin, Wilbert Worthams, Rev. Johnnie Worthams, Rev. Pink E. Worthams, of Jackson and Charlie Worthams, Memphis, Tennessee, an uncle, Emory Williams, Stanton, Tennessee, two grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
