G. T. Thomas was born in Linden, Tenn. Feb 15, 1867 without Lawful Parrentage. Therefore his Mother being a Servant who had to earn her living by her daily labor he was at the age of 6 years put out to earn his own living At the age of 16 years he Embraced a hope in Christ and became a member of the A. M. E. Church at Linden and served first as Steward and then class leader in Said Church and next was Elected as Sunday School Sec[retary] which position he filled with Satisfaction to his Supt. + Teachers and credit to himself. At the age of 18, he became a member of the Masonic Fraternity and married at the age of 19. At 22 years of age he began to Study and work at the house carpen[ter] trade was Tolerable Successful and learned to be a very good Mechanic. At the age of 24, he joined the U. N. A. Society and was elected Sec of the Same which position he have held for more than two years and still holds the same and at this writing he has a wife and one Bright Eyed Little Girl to Bless his home.
